B's Bird Cookies (Yum!)

Deliciousness.
So my sister has a recipe that I dubbed "Bird Cookies." She has made them (and raved about them!) for ages. I've always declined tasting them because they were healthy looking had a bunch of seeds and I was under the impression that seeds weren't delicious. Well, I made the bird cookies last night. They are delicious. They may even take the title of my favourite cookie. And I bake...a lot. Even the 14 year-old loved them. And all things considered, for four dozen cookies...they are relatively healthy. Or at least they have some nutritional value.

Here's the recipe for...

B's Bird Cookies (or her preferred name, Trail Bites)
makes approximately 4 dozen

Combine:
2 cups flour
1 cup raisins
1 1/2 cups rolled oats
1 1/2 cups sunflower seeds
1 1/2 cups choc chips (I used mini semi-sweet)
1 cup ground flax seed (brown)
1/2 cup sesame seeds

1/2 cup unsweetened coconut 
1/2 cup poppy seeds 
2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp baking soda   



Cream:
1 cup butter/margarine
2 cups brown sugar 

2 eggs 
1 tsp vanilla  






Add the two mixtures together (it is rather dense, so use your hands).
Roll into balls and flatten.
The cookies will pretty much stay the same size you make them.
Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes (10 was perfect in my oven).
They freeze really well!
